Elevated Work Platform (EWP) ticket training is for those who need to operate EWPs under 11 metres, which include scissor lift, vertical lift and boom lift. It is also known as yellow card training, EWP training, EWP ticket course or EWP operator licence course.
Origin Institute's EWP ticket training supports workers in construction and many other industry sectors in safe and effective operation of electrical, hydraulic and mechanical EWPs.
Origin Institute's EWP ticket training is nationally recognised. Once completed, your Statement of Attainment (SoA) is recognised and accepted in Australia.

How to receive your EWP ticket:
Complete the EWP ticket training with Origin Institute,
Receive a digital Statement of Attainment (SoA) from Origin Institute on the same day of course completion. You can start working once you receive the SoA.
Receive a digital EWP ticket, which can be added to your Apple Wallet. Android phone users may need a third-party app (example app) to store the digital EWP ticket. (Digital EWP ticket is issued to any students who complete EWP training on or after 18 Sep 2023.) Students will receive the digital EWP ticket at around 6 am after course completion.
EWP Ticket Training for International Students:
Origin Institute is a CRICOS provider. Our EWP ticket training accepts international students as well. You must have a valid visa to enroll in this course. Origin Institute requires all overseas visa holders (except permanent residents who may provide Medicare Cards) to provide a current VEVO Check during the enrolment stage. The VEVO Check must be the original PDF, which is generated from the Department of Home Affairs' system within 2 days of submission.
EWP Ticket Training Entry Requirements
Valid Photo ID:
You must hold a valid Photo ID (View the list of acceptable photo IDs).
Statement of Attainment can not be issued if a participant does not provide a valid photo ID. An overseas driver's licence is not acceptable.
Rights to Study in Australia:
If you are holding an overseas visa, you must be entitled to study or work in Australia under your visa.
All participants will be asked to provide a valid type of residency evidence, such as a VEVO check, passport, Australian government-issued Medicare Card or other document which can prove that you are entitled to work or study in Australia.
English Skill:
Basic understanding of reading, writing and oral English.

Does my EWP ticket or EWP operator licence have an expiry date?
Origin Institute provides nationally recognised training, which means that your training credential or the SoA is valid for lifetime. You don't have to get a separate EWP card once you have completed EWP training with us.
However, the EWP card issued by other industry bodies may come with only a 5-year expiry.
Do I receive a physical card after course completion?
Origin Institute issues a digital EWP ticket, which can be added to your Apple Wallet and is much better and easier than a traditional plastic card. Android phone users may need a third-party app (example app) to store the digital EWP ticket. The digital EWP ticket comes with a QR code, which will allow your employer or supervisor to see the full version of the statement of attainment. Origin Institute introduced the digital EWP ticket on 18 Sep 2023. Any students, who complete EWP ticket training with us on or after 18 Sep 2023, will receive this digital EWP ticket at around 6 am after training completion.
How long does it take to get my EWP ticket?
If you complete the EWP ticket training with Origin Institute, we will issue the nationally accredited Statement of Attainment (SoA) to you on the same day of course completion. Your SoA of EWP training is the legitimate EWP ticket.
If you complete the training with us after 18 Sep 2023, you will also receive a digital EWP Ticket at around 6 am after the training completion, which can be added to your Apple Wallet.
What is a Yellow Card or EWP ticket training?
Yellow Card or Elevated Work Platform (EWP) ticket training is for those who need to operate EWPs under 11 metres, which include scissor lift, vertical lift and boom lift. It is also commonly known as yellow card training in the industry.
What if my employer doesn’t accept my training certificate/SoA from Origin Institute?
Usually, your employer should recognise your Statement of Attainment (SoA), which is recognised nationally. In very rare case that your employer does not accept your SoA, it doesn’t mean your SoA is invalid, but your employer has misconception.
Origin Institute has provided a detailed explanation in this article. You may show this article to your employer or simply contact the WorkSafe authority in your state to help your employer resolve the misconception. Origin Institute is willing to help when any employers have this misconception.

Do I need to approach an external EWP industry body to get a separate EWP card?
No, once you done the EWP ticket training with Origin Institute, your Statement of Attainment (SoA) is recognised nationally. Your SoA for EWP ticket training from Origin Institue is 100% legitimate EWP training evidence.
How many types of EWPs are covered in this training?
You will learn how to use scissor lift and boom lift under 11 metres during the training. Once completed, you can operate 3 types of EWPs, which include scissor lift (SL), vertical lift (VL) and boom lift (BL) under 11 metres. The scissor lift and vertical lift work very similarly. They both only move up and down vertically, so you don't need to complete training for both separately.
What is the difference between CPCCCM3001 and RIIHAN301E?
Origin Institute provides CPCCCM3001 - Operates elevated work platform up to 11 metres, which is one of the nationally recognised units for EWP ticket training. Some other training providers may provide different units such as RIIHAN301E Operate elevating work platform unit. These 2 units come from different training packages, but both are accredited training for EWPs. CPCCCM3001 unit is inside of the building and construction training sector. Origin Institute uses the CPCCCM3001 unit because we are more specialised in building and construction training. Completing this EWP training will support you in safe and effective operation of above-mentioned EWPs, no matter if you are in construction or any other industry sectors.
What if I lost my EWP ticket?
If you completed EWP ticket training with us, simply contact us by sending an email to support@origin.edu.au, then we will issue a new copy of the digital Statement of Attainment to you.
If you complete the training with us after 18 Sep 2023, you will also receive a digital EWP Ticket, which can be added to your Apple Wallet.
If you completed EWP ticket training with other training providers, you should contact that training provider for a solution.
Do I need a White Card to operate EWP?
It depends on your job. If you use EWP in a construction site, then you may also need a White Card. If you want to book a White Card course, click here.
Does an EWP ticket/licence cover working at height?
An EWP Ticket applies to the operation of elevated work platforms under 11m in height. This is different from the type of ticket required for working safely at heights.
Do you have an EWP ticket training for over 11 metres?
At this moment, we only provide the EWP ticket training under 11 metres. However, we may provide this training soon.
What do I need to bring with me to the EWP training class?
Please bring your own laptop or tablet for assessment submission. We also require students to wear closed in shoes during the training session. Please note that during winter months the temperatures within our warehouse can be low, please come with sufficient warm clothing on cold weather days.
Do I need to complete the theory assessment before attending an EWP ticket training class?
Please complete as much as you can before attending the class. Our trainer will also go through all theory assessments in the class.
What do I learn from the EWP ticket training course?
The elevated work platform (EWP ticket) training course includes but not limited to the following learning outcomes:
Plan and prepare for a job where an EWP is required,
Conduct routine checks of EWP,
Locate the EWP in place for a job,
Elevate EWP to work location,
Lower EWP and shut down,
