White card course (also known as general construction induction training, construction white card, or GIT card) is the mandatory work health and safety training required before undertaking construction work.
SafeWork NSW fully accredits Origin Institute for face-to-face and online general construction white card training programs.
NSW General Construction Induction White Card is nationally accredited and can be used anywhere in Australia once completed.

PPE (Personal Protective Equipment):
Face-to-face class:
Students will use Origin Institute's personal protective equipment (PPE) during the assessment stage. You don't have to bring or purchase your own PPE to attend the class, but you are welcome to bring your own if you want to. The required PPE gear for assessment is a hard hat, earmuffs, safety goggles, and a high-visibility vest.
Online class:
Students must prepare their own personal protective equipment (PPE) before the class. PPE gears include:
Hardhat (Certified to AS/NZS 1801)
Eye Protection (Certified to AS/NZS 1337.1)
Earmuff or Ear Plug (Certified to AS/NZS 1270)
High Visibility Vest (Certified to AS/NZS 4602)
Unit of Competency:
CPCWHS1001 - Prepare to work safely in the construction industry
Enrolment Procedure:
Complete booking online,
Sign up for the Online Learning Platform (OLP) account from the confirmation email,
Complete the enrolment form in OLP,
Prepare identification documents by using the Evidence of Identity (EOI) tool,
Complete the learning competency assessment in OLP,
Attend your class.
How to receive your NSW white card:
Complete the White Card course with Origin Institute,
Receive a Statement of Training (SOT) from Origin Institute on the same day of course completion so you can start working,
Receive a formal white card from SafeWork NSW.
International Students:
Origin Institute is a CRICOS provider. Our white card course also accepts international students. You must have a valid visa to enrol in this course.
Entry Requirements
Evidence of Identify (EOI) Documents:
The applicant is required to show Origin Institute's trainer original EOI documents that add up to at least 100 points. Within these documents, the applicant must be able to show:
a photo,
date of birth (minimum age 14 years),
signature,
and current residential address.
SafeWork NSW's EOI Form can assist your EOI documents preparation. You can't attend the construction induction white card training in NSW if you don't show the original 100 points EOI documents to your trainer before the commencement of the class.
The following students may be eligible for EOI special arrangement, please check the EOI Form for more details of EOI requirements:
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders.
School sector (minimum age 14 years).
Overseas persons recently arrived in Australia (for less than six weeks).
Origin Institute also provides a digital tool during the enrolment stage to help you prepare the EOI Form and identify documents, which you must bring to the class.
Rights to Study in Australia:
If you are holding an overseas visa, you must be entitled to study or work in Australia under your visa.
English Skill:
Basic understanding of reading, writing and oral English.

What is a White Card?
A White Card is also known as general construction induction training. It is evidence that you have completed construction safety induction training, a mandatory legal requirement for all persons at a workplace where construction work is performed. Learn more.
Do you offer white card online courses in NSW/Sydney?
Yes, we offer online white card courses in NSW and our online course is approved by the New South Wales government authority (SafeWork NSW).
Do I get the same white card from the online courses?
Yes, you will get the same NSW white card after completing either a face-to-face or online course at Origin Institute.
What should I bring to my class?
You need to bring:
Printed EOI Form (preferred),
Original ID documents as per the requirements of EOI Form, and
Pen.
Do I need to bring my PPEs?
If you attend face-to-face class at Origin Institute, you don’t need to bring your PPEs. Your trainer will have them available for use during the assessment.
However, if you attend an online class, you must prepare your own PPEs before the class. PPEs include:
Hardhat (Certified to AS/NZS 1801:1997)
Eye Protection (Certified to AS/NZS 1337.1.2010)
Earmuff or Ear Plug (Certified to AS/NZS 1716:2012)
High Visibility Vest (Certified to AS/NZS 4602.1:2011)
How long does it take to get my White Card?
Origin Institute will give you a statement (Statement of Training) that you can use to prove you have completed the training until your new card arrives. The SOT is valid for 60 days, but most physical white cards are issued in less than 30 days. If you don't receive your card, call us on 13 10 50.
Can I start working after getting my certificate?
Once you receive the Statement of Training (SOT), you can start working immediately. We usually issue the SOT the same day you complete your course.
How long will my White Card be valid for?
The White Card has no expiry date. However, you must attend another White Card training if you have left the industry for over two consecutive years.
Can I use my White Card in other states?
Yes, you can use it anywhere in Australia.
Do you provide White Card training to international students?
Yes, we provide White Card training to international students. We are also a CRICOS provider (ID: 03819K) who provides many other construction courses to international students.
What happens if I lose my White Card?
Replace a general construction induction card (white card) Online: https://www.service.nsw.gov.au/transaction/replace-general-construction-induction-card-white-card
If your card contains errors, contact 13 10 50.
How can I change the details on my white card?
If you know your licence number, you can check and update your address or contact details by completing an update contact details request.
Alternatively, you can complete the licence enquiry form or change of details form.

What should I complete before class?
All students must:
complete the enrolment form,
provide USI number: create a USI via https://www.usi.gov.au/students/get-a-usi if you do not have one. If you already have a USI but forgot the number, click https://www.usi.gov.au/students/find-your-usi to find your USI. If you still need help with your USI, call USI Service on 1300 857 536
prepare Evidence of Identity (EOI) documents in accordance with the EOI Form, and
complete the Learning Competency Assessment (LCA) before the class.
What is the Learning Competency Assessment (LCA)?
The LCA comprises a suitability assessment, language, literacy and numeracy test, and general instruction of our course. It allows us to identify any support needs the student may have.
