Lost NSW White Card? | This is the ultimate guide!

What is a white card?

According to SafeWork NSW and Work Health and Safety Regulation 2017, a white card (or general construction induction card) is required for workers who want to carry out construction work.

People who need a white card include:

  • site managers, supervisors, surveyors, labourers and tradespeople

  • people who access operational construction zones (unaccompanied or not directly supervised by an inducted person)

  • workers whose employment causes them to routinely enter operational construction zones.

  • Visit Verify.licence to look up and verify NSW white cards (or general construction induction cards).

The white card becomes void if you haven't carried out construction work for two consecutive years or more.

What should you do if you lose your NSW white card?

If you lost your NSW white card, some options exist to get your replacement white card in New South Wales. Here, we listed some options for you.

Replace your white card from SafeWork NSW website.

As long as your details have not changed, you can quickly get a replacement white card from SafeWork NSW's online portal by entering the details exactly as they appear on your construction induction card.

Contact SafeWork NSW.

If your card contains errors or you can't remember details, simply contact 13 10 50.

Replace your lost white card with a new digital card.

Following the success of the Digital NSW Drivers licence, the NSW Government is working to digitise trade licences, with the aim of improving customer service, providing convenience and making compliance with legislation easier.

It means that once you get a new replacement card from SafeWork NSW, you will also have access to a new digital card, which will be saved in your online account.

Retrain after losing your NSW white card.

According to Work Health and Safety Regulation 2017, your white card will become void and you'll have to retain if you have not done any construction work for 2 consecutive years or more.
