Photo ID Requirements for Forklift Courses:
To enrol in a forklift course, all participants must present valid photo identification before training begins. Acceptable forms of ID vary depending on which state you undertake your course in.
Common forms of photo ID include an Australian driver’s licence, passport, or proof-of-age card, but some states have additional or specific verification requirements. To ensure you bring the correct documents, please check the detailed photo ID requirements listed on your state's forklift course page (in the About section)
You’ll need to present original, unexpired identification on the day of your training. Participants who cannot provide the correct ID will not be permitted to commence training as required under WHS regulations.
Rights to Study in Australia:
In addition to photo ID requirements, you must have valid study rights in Australia to enrol in a forklift course. This means you must be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or hold a visa that permits study or training in Australia.
All participants must provide valid evidence of residency to confirm their entitlement to work or study in Australia prior to commencing the forklift course. Acceptable documents include:
VEVO check (original PDF exported from ImmiAccount within 2 days of submission),
Australian or New Zealand passport,
Australian government-issued Medicare card, or
other official documentation verifying your eligibility.
English Skill:
Basic understanding of reading, writing and oral English.

Do I need prior experience for forklift licence training?
No prior experience required for LF forklift licence or LO order picker training. Courses start with basics like safety assessments, pre-start checks, load capacity, and hazard management, progressing to full competency. Experienced operators may fast-track via Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).
How do I apply for my high risk work licence after training?
Post-training, submit your High Risk Work Licence application to WorkSafe authority within 60 days using the Statement of Attainment and Notice of Assessment. These verify your competency for forklift HRWL (LF/LO). A separate licence application fee may be applied by the WorkSafe Authority. Delays beyond 60 days require retraining.
