Forklift Training FAQs
What forklift courses do you offer?
Origin Institute provides nationally accredited forklift licence training for:
counterbalance forklift (LF - TLILIC0003), and
order picking forklift (LO - TLILIC0004).
These high risk work licence (HRWL) courses deliver hands-on skills for safe operation of a forklift in warehouses, logistics, and construction. A high-risk work licence is issued by the WorkSafe authority.
How long is the forklift licence training course?
Origin Institute's forklift training courses typically run for 1.5 days, including self-learning theory, hands-on operation, and an HRWL assessment. Counterbalance forklift training suits beginners, while order picking forklift courses cover elevated picking. Flexible scheduling available at our multiple class locations.
Do I need prior experience for forklift licence training?
No prior experience required for LF forklift licence or LO order picker training. Courses start with basics like safety assessments, pre-start checks, load capacity, and hazard management, progressing to full competency. Experienced operators may fast-track via Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).
How do I apply for my high risk work licence after training?
Post-training, submit your High Risk Work Licence application to WorkSafe authority within 60 days using the Statement of Attainment and Notice of Assessment. These verify your competency for forklift HRWL (LF/LO). A separate licence application fee may be applied by the WorkSafe Authority. Delays beyond 60 days require retraining.
What is the cost of forklift training?
Pricing starts at competitive rates for forklift licence – check our course booking page for pricing. Packages include theoretical learning, practical sessions, assessment, and certification. Group bookings available for businesses.
Where are your forklift training locations?
Origin Institute has multiple training locations for forklift courses. Check our course booking page and find a suitable location and training date.
How long is a forklift licence valid?
Forklift licences (LF/LO) are valid for 5 years nationally. Renew via WorkSafe's online portal – no retraining needed if competent.
Can businesses book group forklift training?
Yes, we custom group forklift courses for teams. Tailored order picker training or counterbalance forklift operator course minimises downtime. On-site delivery ensures HRWL compliance for your warehouse staff.
Are international students eligible for forklift training?
Origin Institute is a CRICOS registered training provider (CRICOS provider ID: 03819K). We offer many courses to international students, including forlift training. International students on valid visas (e.g., student subclass 500) can enrol in forklift licence courses at Origin Institute, given there are no English fluency barriers – basic comprehension suffices with visual aids. USI required; nationally recognised LF/LO licences enhance job prospects in Australia.
